SUMMARY

The Nursing Department is responsible for performing nursing activities, under the direction of a RN to care for and treat individuals in accordance with the policies of Georgia Community Support and Solutions, Inc (GCSS) and the State of Georgia LPN licensing bureau; does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the RN to plan and coordinate nursing care for ISP plans; identify potential health problems, performs periodic re-evaluation of individual needs and conditions
  • Maintains reports of care and assessments
  • Promptly reports to physician, family, and supervisor changes in individual health status
  • Calls pharmacy to order medications for individuals, as needed and check medications in homes, assist staff with medication issues
  • Provides skilled nursing care and assessments; giving medications, G-tube feedings and treatments as ordered by the physician and assess needs and conditions of Crisis Respite individuals as needed
  • Assists in transporting individuals to doctor appointments
  • Supervises and assists other staff in caring for individuals and counsels with families as needed to provide the best possible individual-family relationship
  • Attends staff meetings and  at least 2 in-service programs per year
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School graduate, graduate of LPN School of Nursing, State of Georgia LPN License, at least 6 months experience working as a LPN (part of that time working with development disabilities)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents, ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions,  ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
