Disability Pride Month: We Belong Here, and We Belong Together

Every July, Disability Pride Month invites us to recognize, celebrate, and honor the richness of the disability community. The 2026 theme, "We Belong Here, and We Belong Together," serves as a powerful reminder that inclusion is more than acceptance—it's creating communities where every person is valued, respected, and empowered to live a life of purpose and possibility.

At InCommunity, Disability Pride Month is more than a moment on the calendar. It reflects who we are every day.

This month, we proudly celebrate the uniqueness, strengths, talents, and contributions of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We recognize that every individual has a story worth telling, gifts worth sharing, and dreams worth pursuing. Disability Pride Month is an opportunity to honor individuality, promote inclusion, and champion the fundamental right of every person to live, work, learn, and thrive within their community.

For nearly five decades, InCommunity has been privileged to walk alongside individuals and their families, providing meaningful support that empowers people to live safe, healthy, joyful, and fulfilling lives. Whether through residential services, day programs, employment supports, community engagement, or family resources, our mission has always remained the same: to create opportunities where people can reach their fullest potential while living lives defined by choice, dignity, and belonging.

We know that true inclusion happens when communities embrace differences as strengths. It happens when workplaces open their doors to talented individuals with disabilities. It happens when neighbors become friends, when barriers are replaced with opportunities, and when every person is recognized for who they are—not defined by a diagnosis.

Our work is guided each day by three organizational priorities:

Community reminds us that meaningful relationships and genuine connections create stronger, more inclusive neighborhoods where everyone belongs.

Accountability drives us to provide high-quality, person-centered services that families can trust and depend upon.

Reputation inspires us to continually earn the confidence of the individuals and families we serve, strengthening our commitment to becoming the provider of choice for communities throughout Georgia.

These priorities are more than organizational goals—they are promises. They shape every interaction, every service, and every opportunity we create for the people we support.

As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, we also celebrate the resilience, determination, achievements, and joy of the individuals who inspire us every single day. Their accomplishments remind us that when people are given the opportunity, support, and encouragement they deserve, there are no limits to what they can achieve.

In just a few short months, InCommunity will proudly celebrate 47 years of serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Georgia. That milestone represents thousands of lives touched, countless meaningful relationships built, and an unwavering commitment to creating communities where everyone belongs.

As we look toward that anniversary, we remain focused on the future—continuing to build stronger communities, expand opportunities, and advocate for a world where every individual is seen, valued, included, and celebrated.

This Disability Pride Month, we invite you to celebrate alongside us.

Celebrate individuality.

Champion inclusion.

Honor ability.

Build community.

Because when every person belongs, every community grows stronger.

Happy Disability Pride Month from all of us at InCommunity.
