National Volunteer Week-William Pahl

As a kid William Pahl volunteered in our homes. We have his grandma, long time InCommunity staff and supporter Shirley Pahl to thank for that. His young start planted in him a desire to do something outside of himself. William knew that while he chose to go into a career of final advising, he needed more than just work and his social life to keep him satisfied. In the past year, William has put in hours of his time hosting the Golden Goals Awards (a time to recognize Georgia's most outstanding citizens living with developmental disabilities and those individuals in our communities that support them); serving on the gala committee; and packing/delivering meal boxes all around town. William reflects that volunteering with his Grandma has been a gift – it gave him a peek into her professional life, her passion. Shirley is a driving force in William’s life (those of us who are lucky enough to know her are not surprised one bit), and he says that it’s been incredible to get to do something together for a bigger purpose as not many families get to do that. William is committed to continuing to support InCommunity, always looking for the places where the most impact can be made and new folks can be introduced to the powerful work being done.

From InCommunity, and in honor of National Volunteer week, we extend a huge THANK YOU to William (and Shirley!) Pahl.
