Vaccine Advocacy
Georgia’s Department of Public Health is administering COVID-19 vaccines to those in the Phase 1A+ group only. This includes:
Healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, EMS personnel, environmental services, etc.)
Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
Adults aged 65 and older
Law enforcement, firefighters, first responders
It is of importance to us to get, not only the people we support, but those with IDD in the state of GA, higher priority in the vaccine roll out. To help advocate with us, do not hesitate to give the Governor a call and express your concerns. You may contact the governor at 1-800-GEORGIA (+1 800-436-7442) today.

Script for Governor’s call:
My name is ______, and I am a parent/advocate of an individual with an intellectual/developmental disability (describe your individual’s disability). I am calling today to ask Governor Kemp to support the request for a higher priority in the vaccine rollout for those with IDD. Those with IDD have a 3x higher risk of death than the general population. This vaccine is essential to our community’s health and safety. We strongly ask that you take action to move this at-risk community into Phase 1 of the COVID-19 Vaccine Plan.
*Tip: Anything to make this request personal, details you can share about your experience with COVID-19 and the urgency of your need for the vaccine is helpful.*
